1. No account needed
You can use every feature without signing up. Signing in with Google is optional.
2. What stays on your device
Your readings, Journal, Secret Notes, worries you write down, and village progress are stored only on your device and are not sent to our servers.
Your Silver balance is also kept on our server so it isn't lost; your device keeps a copy for display.
3. AI readings
- AI readings are generated with Anthropic's Claude API. Your request passes through our relay server to Anthropic.
- The first time you use an AI feature, we ask for your consent. Nothing is sent until you agree, and you can withdraw consent in the app at any time.
- Our relay server does not store what you type or any photos. Anthropic may retain requests for up to 30 days under its own policy.
- Your original date of birth is not sent to the AI — only the calculated chart summary (for example, your Four Pillars and Five Elements balance).
- Your birthplace time zone is used only on your device to calculate your chart and is not sent to the AI.

We do not sell your personal information. We do not share it for cross-context behavioral advertising other than through Google AdMob as described below.
5. Ads
The app shows ads through Google AdMob. Google may process your advertising ID and approximate location (based on IP address) to show and measure ads. You can reset or delete your advertising ID in your device settings. Buying "Remove ads" or a Destiny Pass turns ads off.
6. How long we keep data
- Replies to letters you post in the village mailbox are kept for up to 30 days; the letter itself is deleted once a reply is generated.
- Reports you submit about content are kept until we review them.
- Sign-in information is deleted when you use Delete account in the app or our account deletion page.
- Data on your device is deleted when you clear the app's data or uninstall it.
7. Children
Dokkaebi is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child has given us information, contact us and we will delete it.
8. Permissions
We do not request location, contacts, storage, or microphone permissions. The app uses camera (only when you choose a camera feature), notifications, and advertising-related permissions.
9. Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, or delete your personal information, or to opt out of certain processing. Most of your data never leaves your device; for anything we hold (Silver balance, sign-in), email contact@brighttale.co.kr and we will respond within 30 days.
10. Changes
If we change this policy, we will update the effective date above and tell you in the app.
